Megan Thee Stallion Gets A Positive Push In Case Against Her Label
Megan Thee Stallion has secured another small legal win in her dispute against her label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, and its boss, Carl Crawford.
Harris County, Texas Judge Robert Schaeffer denied 1501 Entertainment’s attempt to send the case to arbitration, according to Billboard. Schaeffer also denied Crawford’s request to stay the case. This means the case will continue to proceed in court.
“We are obviously very happy with the court's decision and look forward to litigating this case,” Richard Busch, Megan’s lawyer, told the publication.
Megan’s battle with 1501 is far from over but it's a step forward for the “Hot Girl Summer” rapper, who filed the lawsuit against Crawford and 1501 in March.
She took to Instagram where she alleged that she was being blocked out from releasing new music after she approached 1501 to re-negotiate her contract. Megan, 25, was able to release her Suga EP after a Texas judge granted her a restraining order that lifted the block on her music.
Later, several other artists came forward with their own stories involving contractual disputes with 1501, with rapper Haroldlujah going so far as to liken his deal to “signing with the devil.”
