Tekashi 6ix9ine Reportedly Wants To Forego Witness Protection Program So He Can Keep Making Music

There's speculation the rapper's life is at risk after testifying against the Nine Trey Bloods.

Days after reports that authorities were seriously considering placing Tekashi 6ix9ine in the witness protection program, it appears the rap artist might have other plans. Under the government’s custody, Tekashi would have to disappear from the limelight and assume a life of anonymity under a new identity. The 23-year-old became a walking target when he testified against the Nine Trey Bloods gang.

But it seems Tekashi has entirely different plans. According to a new report, he is possibly considering passing on prosecutors’ offer for protection.

Sources close to the rap artist told TMZ that Takeshi still has plans to continue his rap career and is convinced he can "pick up right where he left off.” Instead of taking up the prosecutors’ offer for protection, Tekashi will reportedly use his remaining funds to hire an around-the-clock security detail, for both himself and his family, while he figures out how to salvage what’s left of his career.

The decision is entirely up to his own discretion as entering the witness protection program is voluntary. However, it’s a risky move given his precarious standing with not only the Nine Trey Bloods but the hip-hop community at large. Tekashi has already said he believes he’ll be out of prison as early as the beginning of next year.

At this point, only time will tell.
