Nicki Minaj Has Something To Say About White Rappers And People Are Big Mad
Nicki Minaj spent her Saturday evening pointing out, well, kind of the obvious.
After examining the top of the iTunes charts, she realized that a lot of white males are dominating the highest spots and took to Instagram to talk about it.
“It’s a great time to be a white rapper in America huh?” she captioned under a screenshot of the iTunes Top 10 Rap/Hip-Hop songs.
It’s true. Seven of the top 10 slots belong to white rappers, including Eminem, Macklemore, Post Malone, Machine Gun Kelly and G-Eazy. So why did pointing this out make so many people angry?
We’re actually not sure, but it did. That didn’t have Nicki back down though. Subsequently, she posted a video of J. Cole talking about how hip-hop culture is shifting rapidly toward being white dominated, which further pissed people off, which Nicki also didn’t seem to care about.
"be mad at this too," she wrote on the follow-up post. “whenever a black woman speaks on ANYTHING she’s labeled as "mad" "angry" "bitter," she wrote in her caption. "I’m on 4 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. I’m blessed & highly favored thx to my amazing fans. But I’ll spk on whatever the fuck I want to whenever the fuck I want to. I love being a smart successful woman. It’s never been cool or funny to be illiterate or uninterested in your own industry & how it works."
Nicki Minaj has since deleted both posts but it seems the “damage” has been done. See how mad social media got below.
Ya’ll really need to chill.
