The Internet Is Confused After Waka Flocka Argues That He's Not Black
In what may be considered Waka Flocka’s most controversial interview yet, the Atlanta rap star made a puzzling and passionate statement that’s left many fans scratching their heads: he’s not Black.
Waka sat down with the hosts of Sway’s Universe as they picked his brain on several topics. He gave his testament on topics like the current state of race in America, the NFL #TakeAKnee movement and, apparently, what it means to be Black — which he argued that he is not.
“When it comes to talking about African-Americans, I have no education with that,” he said. “Period. I’m not even connected to that no more. Because that’s a system.”
Waka, instead, claims the race of the indigenous peoples (also known as Native Americans), arguing that “80 percent of slaves were already here” prior to the African slave trade. You know Sway couldn’t let that number fly past without asking where he got it from, to which Waka simply responded “the books.”
Ironically enough, fans were even more baffled by his sentiments considering that he wore a “Black By Popular Demand” T-shirt during the interview.
“I’m confused, but I’m d**n sure not Black,” Waka continued. “You not gonna call me Black.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Sway brings up Eminem’s scathing anti-Donald Trump BET Hip Hop Awards cypher for Waka’s thoughts as well. According to him, it was “obvious” that Em was going to rip into Trump as mercilessly as he did because “what built Eminem’s career was the Black community.”
“People looked at Eminem like trailer trash,” he said. “So for Eminem to be cocky and standoffish — he deserve it.”
Not to mention, Waka added, Em has more White people following behind him than Trump ever will. But as for the Black community who caught wind of Waka’s denial of his own Black heritage, the internet isn’t following very closely behind him on that one.
