Here’s How Dr. Dre Taught Kendrick Lamar To Sit Down And Be Humble
Kendrick Lamar may have been dropping some knowledge about modesty on his hit single “HUMBLE.,” but it turns out he might’ve gotten that message from someone else. During his recent interview at the Forbes Under 30 Summit in Boston on Tuesday (Oct. 3), Kendrick revealed the best advice he’s ever gotten from Dr. Dre, and it sounds pretty familiar to what he was rapping about in his music.
It’s hard to think that Kendrick ever had a rough time, considering his current status in the rap game. But when he was at a low point, Dre reportedly gave him the encouragement to keep pushing. “You gotta continue to work,” the rapper recalled. “You’re gonna make mistakes along the way, but you have to ask questions.”
And to this day, K. Dot says he’s still trying to master the art of working hard and taking a slice of humble pie when needed. “That’s something I’m learning now. I don’t know it all. I have to ask questions. I’m still fairly a new cat, as far as being a businessman,” he added.
While Kendrick may be his own biggest critic, he definitely seems to have the whole “play hard, work harder” vibe on lock. After recently completing the North American leg of his DAMN. Tour, the rapper is prepping to head to Europe for a 15-show trek in March 2018.
