And Just Like That, Nicki Minaj Racks Up Another W
All eyes have been on Young Money’s reigning rap femcee Nicki Minaj as she’s dropped jaws at Fashion Week in Paris, served fabulous and lengthy new style trends and cold-shouldered all the buzz surrounding a rap wrangle with Bronx’s Remy Ma.
Fittingly announced on International Women’s Day (March 9), the "Feeling Myself" rapper has topped the Billboard charts yet again and remains as unbothered as they come.
According to Billboard, Nicki has officially matched the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin for the most Hot 100 hits among women. Her assist with Gucci Mane’s “Make Love” is to thank for Nicki’s 73rd installation on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, opening up her seat right beside Franklin in 58 years of the chart’s history.
At No. 78, Nicki took the celebration to Instagram for a commemorative post.
“[‘Make Love’] with Gucci Mane debuts on Billboard’s Hot 100 this week, causing me to tie Aretha’s record for the Most Hot 100 entries of all women in the world,” she penned in the caption. “Thanks to you guys for your support (as always). Loveeeeeeee you, #InternationalWomensDay.”
Glowing on the list honoring outstanding women in music are also Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Diana Ross and Janet Jackson. Here’s to more victories in 2017 for the Queens-bred Ms. Minaj. Congratulations, Nicki!
