Joe Budden Name-Drops Jay Z, The Weeknd and Gucci Mane on New Drake Diss Track
Joe Budden has officially invited himself to the beef table with both Drake and Meek Mill. Both have seemingly brushed his shots off, but his bars are hitting a little harder than they probably would’ve liked.
Now the Slaughterhouse rapper is back at it again with “Wake,” his latest Drake diss track. Strategically hitting the web at 2:31 a.m. – the exact time the “6 God” was born – the track features artwork of the Toronto Blue Jays' Jose Bautista taking an infamous fist to the face. Because what’s a beef if it’s not an all-out war?
“I think you rap good, but you a movie star / So that owl is appropriate / We don’t know who you are,” Budden raps on the track in reference to Drake. “Maybe you think nobody notices / Gucci was home two seconds before you rode his d**k,” he continued, referring to this pic and Gucci’s Drizzy-featuring track “Back On Road.”
Budden then took a dig at Drake’s originality, for which he used the Toronto rapper’s own artist to measure. “We want a PARTY[NEXTDOOR] album,” he raps. “But you keep stealing all of PARTY albums and go and put it on your party album.” Then he took a shot at Drake’s relationship with fellow Toronto native The Weeknd. “It's plenty reason to slay you / Kept going up Tuesdays and now The Weeknd just hates you.” That’s probably a shot at Makonnen too, but we’re not entirely sure.
Finally, Joe Budden also mentioned Jay Z, because why not? “I heard it straight from the 'Bama's mouth, he won't pull a hammer out / Wasn't you at Hov's show scared to pull the camera out?”
We’re still waiting for a rap response from Drake and/or Meek Mill. Both have thrown subliminals Budden’s way, but if you’re going to beef with him particularly, bars are going to have to be in order.
