Tis The Season: Tyler Perry Just Pulled A Santa Claus On Thousands Of People Struggling With Holiday Debt
Tyler Perry has brought the holidays a bit early to a bunch of lucky Walmart shoppers, as the celebrated Hollywood director and producer picked up all of their tabs in remembrance of the holidays.
According to TMZ, sources close to the generous situation explained that Perry wrote a couple of "big checks" to two Atlanta area Walmart stores on Thursday to cover the cost of any outstanding layaway items that were registered.
The actor and filmmaker reportedly dropped $178,000 at one store in Atlanta and another $256,000 at another in Douglasville.
To collect their outstanding items, all customers have to do is pay a penny at pickup.
Perry took to his social media accounts to explain that he intended to keep the kind gesture completely anonymous, but the word quickly got out. Watch him explain the amazing deed in the video, below:
Spreading the wealth to those in need is no new act for Perry, as all throughout 2018, he has practiced this gesture. Earlier in the year, he bought an old friend's mother a house and most famously hooked up unfairly disparaged actor Geoffrey Owens with an acting gig.
