The Royals: Here’s What Meghan Markle’s Mom Was Doing At Oprah’s Estate This Weekend
While Meghan Markle is rubbing shoulders with British royalty — and preparing to join the ranks, herself — her mother, Doria Ragland, is doing the same with one of America's national treasures: Oprah Winfrey.
According to the Daily Mail, Ragland was reportedly visiting the queen of all media in preparation for an interview.
She was spotted visiting the former talk show host at her California home just three weeks ahead of her daughter's royal wedding.
The site reports that Markle's mother did not leave Winfrey's $88 million "Promise Land" property empty-handed as she was spotted stepping out with a gift basket filled with some of Winfrey's favorite items.
"No one knows how to schmooze better than Oprah," a source told a writer for the publication. "It's very much her MO to win over by showering them with her personal attention — and gifts — to get what she's after. In this case, whether it's a pre or post-wedding interview with the mother of the princess bride for her magazine or OWN network, Oprah definitely wants the inside track."
The site further reports that aside from her mother, Markle has not invited the majority of her family members to her nuptials to Prince Harry. Her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., claimed that his half-sister could be embarrassed by them.
Markle and Prince Harry are scheduled to wed on May 19 with an estimated billion people set to watch.
