100% That Lizzo!: Lizzo Covers Elle Magazine Wearing Designs From One Of Her Famous Fans, Rihanna
2019 can easily be dubbed the year of Lizzo. After a mindblowing MTV Video Music Awards performance, the highly nominated raptress is gracing ELLE's 'Women in Music'-themed October issue.
The “Truth Hurts” singer stuns in a green couture puffer cape by Gaultier Paris, a black, Christian Siriano bodysuit and a strapless bra by one of her famous fans, Rihanna, from the Savage x Fenty line.
Lizzo is forever been advocating for self love! In her Elle interview, she said, "I take self-love very seriously. And I take it seriously because when I was younger, I wanted to change everything about myself," she admitted. "I didn't love who I was. And the reason I didn't love who I was is because I was told I wasn't lovable by the media, by [people at] school, by not seeing myself in beauty ads, by not seeing myself in television...by lack of representation. My self-hatred got so bad that I was fantasizing about being other people. But you can't live your life trying to be somebody else. What's the point?"
The 31-year-old earned her spot at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week for her track “Truth Hurts” which debuted nearly two years ago. She is styled by Anna Trevelyan for the issue, stunning in a sequin gown by Michael Kors collection, jewelry by Tiffany & Co. and sandals, by Giuseppe Zanotti.
The past few years, there’s been conversation about Couture designers being more diverse with ethnicities and sizing. Lizzo’s unapologetic attitude forces the culture forward in being more inclusive rather than exclusive and we can’t help but love her for it.
