Ladies and gentleman, Chicago’s man of hip-hop contempt Kanye West may finally be seeing the light.

The rapper-producer announced to Twitter a sudden epiphany on Tuesday (October 30) following his turbulent 2018, tarnished with his Donald Trump political and personal alignment, his collaboration with Trump-supporting, Black conservative Candace Owens, and his disgraceful commentary on slavery. The “Violent Crimes” rapper said in five tweets that he would now be disconnecting from the political sphere and honing on his first love: creativity. “My eyes are now wide open and now realize I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in,” Ye wrote in the tweets. “I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative!!!”

The realization comes over a year after his initial Trump cosign (which his rap cohorts have continually broke away from him for), but just days after teaming with Owens for an anti-Democratic T-shirt design dubbed “Blexit” (standing for “Black Exit”). He now claims he wanted absolutely nothing to do with “Blexit” from the very beginning among other political that now butt heads with Trump.

Unfortunately, however, the epiphany is arriving just too little too late for most, and they’re ripping up the new leaf Kanye just turned over.
