New details reveal the emergency phone call activity of Corey Jones, an African-American man who was shot to death by a plainclothes officer on a Florida Interstate last week. The drummer, whose car broke down on the highway, was dialing for help when Officer Nouman Raja approached him and fired his weapon.
The last call Jones made was at 3:10 a.m. to the AT&T #HELP line, according to the Palm Beach Post, the news outlet that obtained the call records. The call may have been recorded and, if it was, it could be possible evidence in the case and answer questions about what happened before Jones was killed. There is no video footage of the incident.

Jones had called the emergency line three times prior. The first call he made was at 2:09 a.m. It is also possible that Jones made a call to his brother while he was on hold with AT&T #HELP. The very first call Jones made after his car broke down was to his bandmate, followed by the Florida Highway Patrol at 1:35 a.m. 

When Raja encountered Jones, he was investigating a burglary and was moving about in an unmarked car.

A confrontation between the two men led to Raja firing six bullets at Jones, who was struck three times in his side and upper body. Jones's gun was also found between his body and his vehicle. Jones never fired bullets from his registered gun, which he carried for the protection of his equipment.
