Former Nappy Roots rapper R. Prophet is looking to make a pay day out of his "Po' Folks" problems. "It's bigger than me," he said of the alleged racial profiling he suffered that led to him being tased and arrested last weekend (April 20) in Kentucky. He's considering suing.

According to Prophet, born Kenneth Anthony, he was on his way home from a show when he and his friend were stopped at a police checkpoint. "So we pulled over to the side of the road, the officer came and got my partner out of the car and blew him [asked him to use a breathalyzer]. And they said, 'Oh he blew over, he's going in for a DUI."

Police then asked Anthony to step out of the car. He said he explained to them that he just got done from a show and had been "doing a little drinking."

"I stepped out of the car," he said, "next thing I know I was getting handcuffed ... and the officer pulls out his shock gun, his little electrocuting gun, they call it a 'taser' or whatever, and he's actually, I think, talking inside his microphone or whatever and said, 'Mr. Anthony, if you don't comply, I'm going to have to tase you.' And I'm like, my hands are behind my back, and I'm looking at him like are you crazy? Like, why are you doing this? What are you talking about?"

The Oakland-born entertainer then said that the officer tased him, multiple times.

"I fell, my hands behind my back, I'm on the ground, and then I felt another tase … and in my head I'm like, I gotta keep — I gotta stay alive. I just gotta stay alive." He said he thought, "They're treating me like a slave," and then he blacked out.

When he came to, he said, "I was being dragged. They grabbed me by my arm, and next thing I know I'm being beaten, being put into a cop car, and then they start tasing me and pepper spraying me."

Graphic photos of Anthony's injuries surfaced online not long after.

It's "definitely" racial profiling, he told TMZ. When asked if he is planning on suing, he said, "man, they have to pay for this. It's not just about me. I can only imagine how many people went through this and they never had a voice. This is bigger than me."

According to TMZ, the arresting officers shared a different perspective claiming Anthony was "highly intoxicated," "walked directly into traffic and was a danger to himself and others," and was "very combative and aggressive," reporters wrote.

He was charged with six counts including public intoxication, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, assault, and menacing; and was released the next day on $5,000 bond.

Since leaving the Nappy Roots in 2006, Anthony has been pursuing acting and was appointed as Advisory Council to the Muhammad Ali Center, an honor he shares with the likes of Dr. Maya Angelou, Quincy Jones and the Dalai Lama.
