Glasses Malone and Kendrick Lamar ‘Thuggin’ on New Song
Tupac Shakur is still speaking to the younger generation of hip hop artists and his voice is immortalized on today’s records. ‘Pac’s latest resurrection is on Glasses Malone’s “Thuggin,’” featuring another admirer of his work, Kendrick Lamar.
“Thuggin’” opens with wise words from ‘Pac: “I don’t know how to be responsible for what every Black male did. I don’t know. I guess I can say I’m a thug because I came from the gutter and I’m still here!” From there, Malone uses the Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s “Foe tha Love of $” backdrop to open up about his started from the bottom story. K. Dot holds his own too, rapping from a different vantage point, but still describing his struggle with great detail. “How many n****s fall victim looking at you trapped in the system?”
The track is the first offering from the Los Angeles rapper’s upcoming album, GH2: Life Ain’t Nuthin’ But. Listen to it here.
