Turk Talks Hot Boys Reunion, New Music

Former Cash Money Records star grants first interview after eight years behind bars.

Turk, the Hot Boys rapper and former Cash Money Records artist, is starting a new chapter after being released from an eight-year bid in prison. In an interview over the weekend with Wild Wayne of Q93 radio in New Orleans, the "I Need a Hot Girl" rapper said he's working on an autobiography in addition to new music.
"You gotta stay productive or else you'll go crazy," Turk said of his time behind bars. "I just tried to stay in contact with the industry and stayed abreast of what was goin' on. I educated myself as much as possible so that when I did get out I wouldn't be too far behind."
In 2005, Turk, born Tab Virgil, Jr., was convicted of attempted murder and felony possession of a firearm in connection to the shooting of a police officer in Memphis. Asked whether he thought he was wrongly convicted, Turk declined to speculate or play the "what if" game.
"That chapter of my life is over... I ain't holdin' no grudges because God does everything for a reason," he said. "They meant it for bad, but He meant it for good. So I'm just gonna make the best out of it and maybe I can help somebody who's going through what I already went through."
As for a reunion with his groundbreaking crew, Turk said talk of a Hot Boys rebirth is up "in the air." Of course the foursome, including Lil Wayne, Turk, Juvenile, B.G., that changed hip hop in the new millennium won't be whole as B.G. is now in the midst of a 14-year prison sentence.
