Tiger Woods Could Be Odd Man Out at Own Tournament
Tiger Woods has undoubtedly had a rough year with the injury, not playing as well as expected and then not making the FedEx Cup playoffs.
But the year could become a little more humbling for the one-time world’s greatest golfer if he doesn’t qualify for his own tournament.
The Chevron World Challenge that Woods hosts in December has a cutoff Monday for qualifying. All 18 players in the field must be ranked in the top 50.
Woods is ranked 46th this week, but he could drop out of the top 50 this week depending on what happens during the BMW Championship. Since Woods didn’t qualify for the playoffs, he can’t protect his current position.
It would indeed be odd to have a Woods event and he not be involved.
