Babyface Performs Classics That Will Take You Back in Time for Black Music Month on NPR’s ‘Tiny Desk’
There is nothing like some good r&b for the soul!
During Black Music Month, NPR Music is celebrating monumental Black artists by hosting them for their popular Tiny Desk series, to both celebrate the history of Black music while giving it a platform for the future.
Last June, the lineup included artists like Usher, FKA Twigs and Larry June, giving intimate performances on the iconic Tiny Desk stage dedicated to echoing Black music.
So far this month, Charlie Wilson gave us an epic performance, showcasing over 50 years of Black music history from his solo album hit "Charlie, Last Name Wilson", to classics like “Outstanding” from his time as lead vocalist in The Gap Band.
Today, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds made his mark with NPR Music, bringing along notable talents Tank, Chanté Moore and Avery Wilson to perform some of his most prolific hits.
The Indianapolis-born singer-songwriter has written and produced over 26 number-one r&b hits, and has won 12 Grammy Awards including “Best R&B Album” and “Producer of the Year”.
The setlist included timeless classics like “Two Occasions,” “Whip Appeal,” and “I’ll Make Love to You,” that just melt your soul completely.
