David and Tamela Mann have been married for nearly 26 years, but the singers-actors are just as, if not more, happy in love than they were in the early days of their relationship. In a recent interview with MadameNoire.com, the couple recounted their first encounters as teenagers, the importance of communication, and how they've been able to keep that spark burning through all these years.
"I do things to keep him turned on; it is never a dull moment," Tamela said. "I try to give him a different lady...I may try to change my hair color or change up something, especially in the bedroom. I try to make sure he is keeping his eye on me."
The pair also said they don't let frustrations fester, but instead talk through problems and keep everything out in the open — their qualms, their opinions, and their financial accounts. They even addressed how to handle friends of the opposite sex. While both are comfortable with it and trust each other, they said you have to be careful and always put your partner's feelings first.
"You have to really be careful because of human nature," David said. "The reason you have to be careful is because that friendship ultimately plays a role in your relationship. I don’t object to it but you have to understand how to handle that friendship. If it bothers your spouse, then you have to back off from that friendship."
