Birdman Explains Drake's Absence From Rich Gang
Drake's absence from his Cash Money family's Rich Gang compilation has nothing to do with beef, according to Birdman. "Drake was recording out the country," the Cash Money boss told Sway Calloway on MTV's RapFix Live. The album, which dropped Tuesday (July 23), features fellow YMCMB crew members (and even Chris Brown).
Birdman also made it clear that Brown's beef with Drake had no influence over the guest list. "I ain't got nothing to do with the Chris Brown and Drake thing. I don't know nothin' about that. Drake, that's blood, that's my family, that's my love, and we rockin' with Chris, but I don't know nothin' about the differences."
Even though he skipped out the Rich Gang, Drizzy is still down for the Big Tymers re-up, which also includes Lil Wayne. The trio has already started recording. "I think it'll be even more special," Birdman predicted.
Elsewhere in the interview, the New Orleans native spoke on getting back in the studio with former Big Tymers member Mannie Fresh. Despite leaving Fresh out of the forthcoming release (Fresh said he wasn't "surprised" by that move), Birdman and Fresh talk "every other day" discussing new music. "We gon' get in [the studio]," Birdman promised. "Me and Fresh ain't got no problem. We never had no problem. It's been a minute and we out here working again."
The Big Tymers album never took off because Birdman thought his former partner "didn't wanna do it." Now that Wayne's on board, the project will be out sometime this fall.
No word on when the public will hear said "work" between Birdman and Fresh.
