Lauryn Hill’s Recent Performance Sparks Online Buzz Once Again
Lauryn Hill is proving that some things are worth the wait.
The notoriously tardy Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and her Fugees bandmate Wyclef Jean reportedly arrived over an hour late to their performance at the O2 Arena in London on Monday night (Oct 14). Some fans were allegedly seen leaving the venue before the pair even hit the stage.
However, for those who stayed, the show—which extended beyond the 11 p.m. curfew and concluded 25 minutes after—felt like a rare experience.
One X user, Richie Brave, shared, “Lauryn Hill was amazing tonight. Her vocals were phenomenal. Despite the show starting at around 9:45, she carried on until the lights went on around 11:25. It really felt like a once in a lifetime show. I’m still buzzing from it. Wyclef even had to drag her off stage!”
Another fan echoed those sentiments, writing, “The Lauryn Hill concert in Cardiff tonight is one of the best concerts I've ever been to! She turned up on time, her voice is timeless, and Wyclef Jean hyped up everyone in the arena for the Fugees bit.” They added, “Don't believe everything you read online about her. #TheMiseducationTour.”
Hill and Jean’s recent performances come amidst legal drama involving their third Fugees bandmate, Pras Michél. Earlier this month, Michél filed a lawsuit against Hill, accusing her of grossly mishandling their 2023 tour and its subsequent 2024 follow-up, which was canceled.
Hill has since responded, calling the claims “baseless” and stating that the lawsuit is “full of false claims and unwarranted attacks.”
