Stephen Belafonte Slams Eddie Murphy In Custody Battle With Mel B
The custody battle involving Stephen Belafonte and Mel B has taken an unexpected turn as the former has dragged the latter's ex, Eddie Murphy, into the mix with claims that he is "not interested" in being present in his daughter Angel's life.
According to the Daily Mail, Belafonte, who helped raise Angel during his decade-long marriage to Mel B, is currently trying to persuade a judge to grant him step-parent visitation with the young one. He added that she "had called me dad since she started to talk."
Mel B, however, is said to be "vehemently opposing her efforts" and is refusing to let him see Angel.
Here's where Murphy comes in. Belafonte's attorney, Grace Jamra, claimed that she has been trying to reach the comedian, who is Angel's biological father, to discuss the request, but he has not been responding. She went on to state that Murphy's lawyers said he was simply "not interested."
"Mr. Murphy has had no contact with the child," Jamra said in court before adding that despite her trying to serve him with legal papers, he has been "avoiding service."
After these claims were made, a photo of Murphy and Angel surfaced online, with many claiming this proves that Belafonte's sentiments hold no truth.
