Snoop Dogg Claims He’s Quitting ‘Smoke’ Causing Mix Reactions from Fans
Grammy-nominated rapper Snoop Dogg is kicking his iconic habit.
In an Instagram post uploaded to his account Thursday (Nov. 16), the West Coast legend shared a photo of himself with a note that read, “AFTER MUCH CONSIDERATION & CONVERSATION WITH MY FAMILY, I’VE DECIDED TO GIVE UP SMOKE.”
The “Drop it Like It’s Hot” emcee asked his supporters, “PLEASE RESPECT MY PRIVACY AT THIS TIME.”
The announcement garnered over 3.1 million likes and sparked a wave of reactions from fans across social media. Many people sent the entertainer well wishes on his journey, seeing as Snoop had long been an advocate for marijuana use.

However, not everyone was convinced, with some asking the 52-year-old if his account had been hacked. One skeptic wrote, “My man snoop giving up smoke is like Vin Diesel giving up ya family.” Then, of course, there were the mounting offers from fans asking to have what remained of his stash of weed.
While Snoop didn’t elaborate on what he meant precisely by giving up “smoke,” earlier this year, he mentioned lessening his smoking in the past.
Earlier this year, the Death Row Records boss told Daily Mail, “Being a grandfather has changed me in multiple ways,” and that it made him more aware of “how I live, how I move, the kind of people I’m associated with because I want to see my grandkids grow old.”
He added, “The only way I can do that is to take precautionary steps as far as how I move, who I hang out with, where I go out, my intake, what am I intaking. Am I doing extra-curricular, or am I just doing what I’m supposed to be doing?”
