Chicago Gun Violence: 3 Dead, 28 Wounded This Past Weekend
Three people were fatally shot in Chicago this past weekend, according to NBC Chicago. The violence also left 28 people wounded.
Addarius Thompson, 27, was killed near the Chicago Lawn area on Friday. He and his mother were wounded in a shootout around 1:15 a.m. His mother was struck in the chest and ended up in serious condition.
Damion Bryant, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene after a possible drive-by shooting Friday in the Austin area. William Lewis, 28, was struck in the back while in the Rogers Park neighborhood on Saturday.
Also, two 15-year-old boys were injured over the weekend. One boy was shot in the arm and taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his wounds. Another boy was walking and approached by an armed man who shot him in the left ankle. He also survived his wounds.
So far this year, there have been 177 homicides from gunshots in Chicago, according to data tracked by Red Eye Chicago.
