Former Hamilton Dancer Missing After SOS Alert, Car Found Abandoned

Zelig Williams was last seen at his home in Columbia, South Carolina on Thursday, Oct. 3.

A Broadway dancer has been reported missing by his family in South Carolina since last week.

Zelig Williams was last seen at his home in Columbia on Thursday, Oct. 3, and his family reported him missing the following day after not hearing from him for an entire day—a situation they described as “out of character,” according to PEOPLE.

Police indicate that the 28-year-old was last seen driving near Congaree National Park. His vehicle has since been found along the Palmetto Trail, a 500-mile path that traverses the state. However, it remains unclear how far his car was from the national park when it was discovered.

An incident report obtained by the media outlet reveals that police were dispatched to Williams' residence last Friday after his mother reported seeing him leave through the front door around 9 a.m. the day before.

His family immediately sensed something was off after he departed, indicating their concern for his well-being. The sheriff’s department confirmed that his aunt, Christine McLaughlin Barber, revealed that the family received an SOS alert from his phone just ten minutes after he left home.

The alert they received through a friend in New York suggested that he had been in a crash. However, when the family searched for signs of an accident, they found nothing. Their anxiety deepened when Williams failed to come back that night.

According to his Playbill profile, Williams recently appeared in Broadway’s “MJ Musical” and previously showcased his talents in the acclaimed musical “Hamilton.”
