Box Office: Fantastic Four Flames Out
This may be the last we'll ever see of the Fantastic Four. The latest installment of the Marvel franchise was the worst opening ever for a big-budget comic film, bringing in just $26.2 million in its debut weekend. The film, starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan and others, was critically panned as well.
With Fantastic Four unable to secure the top spot (it came in second place), Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation held on to first place for the second week in a row, earning an additional $29.4 million. Psychological thrillerThe Gift placed in third with $12 million.
Rounding out the top five were Vacation, starring Ed Helms and Christina Applegate, and Paul Rudd‘s Ant-Man, which made $9.1 million and $7.8 million, respectively.
Next week's big releases are the spy reboot The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and the highly-anticipated NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton.
