Tia Mowry Transforms Wedding Ring from Cory Hardrict into Jewelry for Their Children
Two years after her divorce from Cory Hardrict, Tia Mowry repurposed her engagement ring and wedding band into sentimental gifts for her children, son Cree, 13, and daughter Cairo, 6.
The “Sister Sister” star shared her decision on the Oct. 11 episode of “Tia Mowry: My Next Act,” explaining, “I haven’t worn it for almost two years now, and it just doesn’t feel right to sell it.” Mowry went on to say, “But what I am wanting to do is change my wedding band into something for my kids. Pass it down, you know, to my kids, because they have been my biggest gift.”
The emotional moment was hard for Mowry as she reflected on the memories attached to the rings. “It was very pretty,” she said through tears, noting that they had been “sitting” in a drawer since her divorce. She acknowledged the sentimentality but admitted, “It’s hard for me to not think about Cory when I am deciding to repurpose my wedding band because he is the one who gave me my wedding ring.”
Though she didn’t ask for Hardrict’s approval, the actress felt he would be okay with it “because it’s going to their children.” Ultimately, she said it was something she needed to do for herself.
During her jewelry consultation, Mowry revealed that she planned to turn the rings into “some nice jewelry pieces.” Ultimately, she decided to make Cree a necklace and Cairo a bracelet. “I just think it’s so beautiful to transform something that was given out of love and to give it to your children,” she said. “It just makes me feel like my marriage wasn’t a waste. I did the right thing.”
Mowry and Hardict were together for nearly 20 years and married for 14 before they separated in October 2022. Their divorce was finalized six months later
