Chad Johnson Cut From Dolphins After Arrest
Nearly 24 hours after being arrested for domestic abuse, Chad Johnson has been released from the Miami Dolphins.
The NFL star was charged with simple domestic battery after his wife, Evelyn Lozada, accused him of head butting her during an argument in front of their home. Following his arrest, Johnson was released on $2,500 bond.
The confrontation between the six-time pro bowl receiver and Lozada, a cast member of the reality show Basketball Wives, comes barely a month after the two were married.
Johnson, 34, had been battling for a spot on the Miami Dolphins following a disappointing 2011 season with the New England Patriots. But five days before Johnson’s arrest, the Dophins' head coach, Joe Philbin, said his roster spot could be in trouble because of his behavior. Philbin was annoyed by Johnson frequently using profanity during a session with reporters.
After Sunday’s practice, Philbin said he would speak with Johnson about his arrest.
"We're going to deal with this," Philbin said. "We're not going to waste time. ... We're all in this thing together. Everybody that sets foot in this building, we're all held to a high standard."
