Chris Rock to Wife: I Didn't Adopt the African Girl Who Lived With Us

The 7-year-old has been a part of their family since 2008.

As if Chris Rock filing for divorce wasn't enough, the comedian has another situation under his belt. According to TMZ, he believes his wife had done some shady business to get a 7-year-old girl named Ntombi from South Africa to live with them. The Top Five actor's gripe is that although she has been a part of their family since 2008, she has not been legally adopted.

Rock says, unlike his biological daughters, Lola, 13, and Zahra, 11, he has not seen or been in contact with Ntombi since his divorce from his estranged wife, Malaak, got off the ground a year ago.

The situation is so serious that it triggered an international investigation by South African officials to determine how Ntombi came to live in the United States since there's no proof of legal adoption.

Ntombi migrated from South Africa to live with the Rocks back in 2008 when she was only six months old. She lived in the family's New Jersey home and was even enrolled in school. The toddler's biological parents were reportedly unemployed South Africans when she met the Rock family.

This situation is messy because, according to sources connected to Rock, he never signed legal documents to adopt Ntombi, and he had no hand in bringing her over to the U.S. — it was all Malaak's doing. His reps told TMZ that he does not have an adopted child. Malaak's attorney has not offered a comment.
