'Maybe He Said It to Frederick Douglass,' GOP Gets Trolled for Tweeting Fake Abraham Lincoln Quote on His Birthday
Looks like the "party of Lincoln" needs a new description.
On February 12, the GOP Twitter page tweeted a quote from Abraham Lincoln for his birthday
The only problem was that the quote was fake
The site Quote Investigator believed the quote was most likely first spoken by a medical doctor named Edward J. Stieglitz, quoted in the Chicago Tribune in 1947.
The tweet has since been deleted, but not without people commenting on the irony of the situation
