Jay Z Dropped Some Gems On Part 2 Of His Tidal Interview
Jay-Z’s already given us quite a few gems from part one of his Tidal interview.
B. Dot and Elliott Wilson of Rap Radar have done this justice as we’re finding out more about Jay’s current life, which now involves twins. Hov touched on why he and Beyonce chose the names Rumi and Sir Carter.
"Rumi is our favorite poet, so that's for our daughter, and Sir was just like, man, like, come out the gate,” he explained when asked the meaning behind the twin’s names. “He carries himself like that, he just came out, like, Sir."
Interestingly, Jay-Z also talked about his beef with Prodigy, who passed away recently. He says the squashed their beef a long time ago and that he’s always respected the Mobb Deep emcee.
"I had super respect for Prodigy… in order for me to spar with you, like really spar, I gotta respect you,” he said. “I sampled him for my first album, so you know… I was aware of him and and had a respect for him… me and him spoke before he passed. I saw him in the club, like, I wanna say, maybe five years ago… Just sad, blessing to his family."
Also during the Tidal interview, Jay-Z ranked his own catalog and says he released six classic albums, those of which include Life & Times: Volume 2, The Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt, The Black Album, American Gangster and 4:44.
