Two Suspects Arrested For Gunpoint Robbery Of Bishop Lamor Whitehead During Church Service
Authorities arrested two suspects Wednesday (Sept. 28) accused of the gunpoint robbery of Brooklyn Bishop Lamor Whitehead and his wife during a church service in July, allegedly stealing jewelry reportedly valued at about $1 million, The New York Daily News reports.
The two men, both 23, face federal robbery charges. They were expected to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Brooklyn Federal Court. Meanwhile, federal investigators continued their search for a third suspect in the robbery that was caught on video.
“I’m extremely happy. My wife was crying when she heard the news. We’re waiting for the last one to be arrested so we can move on with our life,” Whitehead told the Daily News. “The last two months were hell. This clears up the whole narrative that I had something to do with this crime. It’s a new beginning.”

After the robbery, the police said Whitehead, 44, of Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministry in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn, was preaching at about 11:15 a.m. on July 24 when three masked bandits, dressed in black, stormed into the church with handguns.
The minister stopped his sermon and lay on the floor, as they searched his pockets and removed jewelry from Whitehead and his wife. The suspects fled in a white Mercedes-Benz.
Whitehead also made news recently when he and a woman in his congregation were arrested on Sept. 18 after he grabbed her during his sermon, believing that she was going to assault his family sitting in the pews. Authorities released Whitehead without filing charges, but Tarsha Howard, 47, was charged with trespassing and disrupting a religious service.
Howard later said she was researching a book on the role of churches in the Black community, according to the Daily News.
