RZA says "Wheels Are In Motion" for Ol' Dirty Bastard Biopic
After Straight Outta Compton was released just about every well-known rapper wanted a biopic made either about them or their group.
A Wu-Tang Clan film was tossed around as one that would make sense but at least one of the members of the group may be getting his own. Recently sitting down with Rolling Stone, RZA confirmed that people in his circle are starting to craft an Ol’ Dirty Bastard biopic and according to the Wu co-founder, the script for it is already being processed.
“I think it’s a great idea, and there has been talk about it,” he told the magazine. “There are a few wheels in motion with one done by our first cousin Rayshawn; he was the young guy there watching everything that happened.
“[Rayshawn] and ODB’s wife have been talking and he has a pretty interesting script,” RZA continued before adding, “I just saw a 12-minute teaser that he shot about a year ago and it felt pretty f**king cool. I watched it and was like, ‘Wow, you may have something here.’ He has the best thing that I’ve seen so far.”
RZA recently caught flack for his views on Black Lives Matter and how young black males should dress to avoid attention from the police. He does believe however that the ODB biopic would be welcomed by the public and should happen.
