Nischelle Turner Gets A Surprise By Her Mentor On ‘Tamron Hall’ Show
Nischelle Turner received the surprise of a lifetime on the latest episode of Tamron Hall that she will never forget.
On Wednesday (Nov. 10) Turner, who is the first Black woman to co-host Entertainment Tonight, was a guest on Tamron Hall to discuss her latest achievement of making Ebony’s esteemed Power 100 List, the influence of her mentor April Eaton and more.
Little did Turner know, she would soon be face-to-face with the woman who first inspired Turner to become a television host. But first, she took a moment to reflect on how her 12-year-old self wanted to become a news reporter.
“I saw this woman, April Eaton, on television in Columbia, Missouri, where I’m from. And I looked, and I said, ‘What? Hold on.’ I’d never seen a Black woman on television like that. That was, you know, right before Oprah really debuted, I hadn’t really seen it. And I said, ‘That woman looks like me. What is she doing?’ And it just sparked something in me to say, ‘Can I do what she’s doing?’ And it just really sent me on a journey. I just got to reconnect with her as well,” Turner shared with Tamron Hall.
Adding, “This is gonna make me cry. Because I talked about her in a Vogue magazine interview that they did with me about becoming the first Black woman to co-host Entertainment Tonight, and I said her name and so she reached out and just said what that moment meant to her.”
Seconds later, Hall surprised Turner who invited April Eaton to join them on stage, where an emotional in-person introduction took place.
“I don’t think I will ever be able to fully say THANK YOU for this INCREDIBLE MOMENT. This meant everything to me. 12 year old Nischelle and 46 year old Nischelle’s heart is COMPLETELY FULL. 🤎🤎🤎🤎,” Turner captioned her Instagram post.
