Lil Wayne Speaks on Ja Rule's Sentence
It looks like Lil Wayne is making the radio rounds.
Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex premiered his new track, "6'7" featuring Corey Gunz, yesterday (December 14), the first song Weezy's dropped since being released from Rikers Island. The track is believed to be the first single off Wayne's "Tha Carter IV," which is expected early next year.
Wayne also conducted his first on-air interview on DJ Drama's radio show and gave his thoughts on Ja Rule's recent sentencing to two years in prison.
“That’s super crazy,” Wayne told Drama. “I’m super disappointed. Me and Ja, we was kinda locked up together. We was in the same holding tank that same night, we went to court the next day together, and to know he got that two and to know I already done dealt with the situation and came home… I would imagine it’s a hard pill to swallow.”
As previously reported, Ja pled guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon on Monday (December 13). Wayne and Rule were arrested for possessing the same type of firearm, a 40-caliber pistol, and marijuana, on the same night, July 23, 2007, in New York City. The two were cuffed in different locations shortly after Weezy's concert at the Beacon Theatre. Wayne served eight months in Rikers and was released November 4th. Wayne and Ja also have the same lawyer, Stacey Richman.
