Legendary Village Voice columnist, Michael Musto, is questioning Tyler Perry's sexuality -- and blatantly telling him to come out of the closet.  Last week Musto stated, "Assuming the gaydar of millions is on target as usual, why won't the guy come out already? Is he living on the down low? Is it because he feels his audience is largely homophobic? Well, if your message is love and peace and all that jazz, why would you want to pander to a bunch of haters?" Musto adds, "Come on, Tyler. Take off your dress for a second and call The Advocate."\r
Tyler Perry has been batting off gay rumors from the start of his career. In a 2007 interview with Essence Magazine: "He doesn't hesitate to address the gay rumors, acknowledging, first, that climbing into a dress and wig and packing his face full of Maybelline could very well lead people to question for which side he's hitting. 'It used to bother me a whole lot in the beginning, it really, really did,' says Perry. 'But what it's done is give me firm seating in my manhood. And if some people can't separate the character from the man that I am, then that's their issue, not mine.'"\r
Honestly, I don't think people question Perry's sexuality because he plays Madea. There have been plenty of men who dressed in drag for comedy and no one thought they were gay (Martin Lawrence, Flip Wilson, etc.). Someone said to me another reason why people question Perry’s sexuality is because he is a few months short of 40 and never been married or had children—but either has George Clooney. Nonetheless, to some, Mr. Perry just gives off that homolicious vibe.\r
Hypothetically speaking, let's say Perry enjoys the comfort of a man.  Musto says his fans wouldn't budge, "Most of whom, I'm sure, would keep on loving him every bit as much!"\r

What Musto fails to understand is that Perry's main fan base is hardcore church goers who will have a hallelujah conniption if their beloved film saint were gay.  It shouldn't matter if you are gay or straight, but there are still prejudices.\r
I don't know if the man is gay and could care less -- but if Tyler Perry were gay would you no longer support him?
