Lil Wayne Praises Drake’s Upcoming Album
Has the student become the teacher? Lil Wayne told MTV News that his protégé Drake’s upcoming album, Take Care, is something that not even he can compete with. “I actually haven’t got a chance to listen to all of it, but I heard a few songs. I can tell, you know, I don’t know nothing else out there that can touch it, including my stuff. That kid is on another planet,” he said. “To me, I call him a conversational artist, meaning he can make a hit song out of a regular conversation that you would love to have with any woman or anybody, and I think that is his expertise. The songs I heard, he just capitalized on that like crazy.”
That’s good news for fans, who are eagerly awaiting the November 15 release. The album was originally slated to be released on Drake’s birthday, October 24. But was moved back while Drizzy waited on samples to clear. He posted to his website at the time: “I have completed 19 songs (17 on physical and 2 on bonus), and have run into a roadblock of clearing 3 samples in time to make the October 24th date. My options were to take the songs off and make the birthday release happen, or to take an extra couple weeks to get the paper work right and give you the album they way I NEED you to hear it. The choice was clear as day for me. November 15th you will get Take Care the exact way I created it with no trimmings.”
Drake performed the latest single from the album, “Make Me Proud” with Nicki Minaj on Saturday Night Live last week.
