Rodney Jerkins Launches Gospel Imprint
He’s already made a name in the R&B world, now Rodney Jerkins is going gospel. The Grammy-winning producer has announced the launch of his Lifestyle Music Group imprint to be distributed through Motown Gospel/Capitol Christian Music Group, Billboard reports.
“Rodney Jerkins’ entrance into the Christian and gospel music genres is long overdue,” Bill Hearn, Capitol Christian Music Group CEO, said in a statement. “I have no doubt our industry will benefit greatly from the artists and music he develops.”
Longtime music executive Demmette Guidry, who helped launch the careers of Lauryn Hill, Maxwell, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé and others, has been named LMG’s general manager. His resume includes executive positions at Columbia Records, Warner, and Bey’s father’s gospel label, Music World Entertainment.
LMG will be housed in the Capitol Records Hollywood, Calif. building, however, Jerkins doesn’t classify it as a label. “It’s a destination where a community of artists can exist and just be themselves, authentically expressing their God-given gifts without judgment.”
