Sistas And Sons With Voices: Coko And Son Jayye Michael Cover Atlantic Starr’s 'Always'
SWV lead singer Coko has officially joined another group, and it’s just her and her son, Jayye Michael. Okay, so they are not a singing group; however, the mother-son duo have teamed up to share how their voices blend.
Their latest effort? “Always” by Atlantic Starr. The two vocalized at the start of the cover and then Jayye Michael started the song with, “Mom, you are to me…all that a mother should be…” and this tugged at the heartstrings of all who watched.
Jayye Michael is also a recording artist who follows in his mother's vocal footsteps. He loves to cover classic R&B songs, especially from the era when his mom, Coko, reigned supreme as the lead vocalist of SWV. It’s obvious that his mother and her golden voice have influenced the singer, and he effortlessly pays homage.
It’s clear that Jayye Michael is finding his footing as an artist, and to have a built-in cosign from one of the greatest R&B girlie pop vocalists from the 90s, he’s as good as gold!
