Chris Brown and Rihanna Back Together, Musically
No more rumors. No more secret rendezvous at the studio. No more subliminal tweets. The cat is officially out of the bag. Three years after their now infamous breakup, Chris Brown and Rihanna are friends again.
The young superstar tandem released two new songs on Monday (February 20), confirming what many have been speculated upon for weeks. Brown appears on the remix to Rihanna’s latest sexual sizzler, “Birthday Cake,” while Rih Rih adds her vocals to a re-up of Brown’s high-energy cut “Turn Up the Music.”
The musical collaborations are the first significant hookup between the two Grammy winners since Breezy was featured on the remix to Rihanna’s break-out smash “Umbrella” in 2007. With the new material the couple has made it very clear that they have put their past issues behind them. Brown was convicted of assaulting Rihanna, his then-girlfriend, during an altercation on Grammy weekend in 2009.
As part of his punishment he was ordered to stay 50 yards away from Rihanna (10 yards if they were at a music event.) Last year, despite much criticism, Rihanna had the restraining order lifted, clearing the way for these current collaborations.
While neither star has commented on the tracks, Brown tweeted a message to Rih Rih yesterday as she celebrated her 24th birthday.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBYN,” Brown wrote.
As previously reported, Brown attended a birthday bash for Rihanna in Los Angeles last week and reports of their cozy interaction raised plenty of eyebrows.
Now that it is clear they have mended past problems, the next big moment fans and critics alike will be anticipating is the first public performance by the rebellious pop twosome.
