The pair of rappers join Maroon 5 who will be headlining the annual event on February 3. The LA pop band, Houston and Atlanta rappers were only granted the gig after the NFL’s first choice, Rihanna, turned it down in October in support for Colin Kaepernick’s peaceful kneeling protest.

Jay-Z also reportedly turned down the gig, making this season’s search for performers way more difficult than previous years.

Cardi B also followed Rihanna’s lead vowing never to perform unless the NFL “hires Colin Kaepernick back.” It’s curious though that she still decided to headline the Bud Light Super Bowl LIII Music Fest in Atlanta on February 2. Migos, Post Malone, Ludacris, and Aerosmith will join the 26-year-old rap star.
