Report: Diddy Puts in $200 Million Bid for Fuse TV
If all goes according to plan, Sean "Diddy" Combs will be extending his reach in the world of cable television. The 44-year-old mogul put in a $200 million bid to acquire Fuse TV, sources revealed to Billboard.
Diddy launched his own music network, REVOLT TV, in October of last year. Fuse would be added on as an extension of the REVOLT brand, according to the report.
A rep for REVOLT dodged (but didn't deny) it, stating that the company's is presently "focused on building REVOLT as the #1 name in music."
If true, the multi-million dollar offer places Diddy in the running with several other perspective buyers vying for FUSE. The 14-year-old cable channel is currently owned by the The Madison Square Garden Company.
MSG would only say that the company is "exploring strategic alternatives" and "will have no further comment during what is still an ongoing process."
Fuse reaches some 73 million Nielsen subscribers, servicing the coveted 18-49 demographic. The station was originally centered on indie music acts and has expanded to include mainstream names. In 2008, Fuse netted three-year deals to exclusively air the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
