Tyrese Broke Up a Heated #BlackLivesMatter Debate Between David Banner and Lyfe Jennings
With all of the events of the past two weeks involving police shootings and the subsequent discussions about social justice, things can get passionate.
Tyrese, David Banner and Lyfe Jennings were all at a town hall meeting in Atlanta yesterday (July 12) and things got pretty heated. “I’m tired and am glad that Black people are fired up. They should be,” Banner told Channel 2’s Matt Johnson. This sentiment got Jennings upset, which sparked an emotional response from the singer.
“You sound crazy. I’m gonna tell you, you sound crazy,” Jennings said while standing up and getting in Banner’s face. “What we’re going through is crazy, but we’re not going to create more by telling these people to bring guns against the police. That’s stupid.” That’s when Tyrese stepped in and broke up the emotional exchange.
Dr. Bernice King, 2 Chainz and Jeezy were also among the celebrities in attendance. Comedian and radio host Rickey Smiley served as host of the event, which was held at the House of Hope church in Decatur and called the “Real Strategy for Change.”
“We have got to find a way to get on one accord in our approach,” Dr. Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr., told the panel.
