Idris Elba, David Oyelowo Have One More Thing in Common
Idris Elba and David Oyelowo are both campaigning for their Golden Globes next month, but in the mean time, they've already been awarded with the highest recognition from England's Queen Elizabeth.
The actors were chosen to recieve the Order of the British Empire, or OBE, this year for their contributions to cinema. Needless to say, it's a very big deal.
"Awards and honors come in all shapes and sizes and all as significant as the other," the Beasts of No Nation star said in a statement. "But this is beyond special as it comes from Queen and country, and I couldn't be more proud for receiving this right now. What a year. On me head, son!"
For Oyelowo, meanwhile, the honor is especially meaningful since a scholarship from Prince's Trust when he was 18 years old gave him his start in his career. "To be honored by the Queen in this way having been aided by her son's charity feels like a beautiful full-circle moment," he told British paper The Independent.
Congratulations to both these talented fellas! Watch Idris get coy about being a sex symbol in our exclusive interview with the actor below:
