BET to Air Discussion on Baltimore Uprising With Special Guests
The Baltimore Uprising is the latest in a wave of activism across the country against the treatment of young Black men by law enforcement. BET is taking a deep dive into the issue with Baltimore Speaks: A BET Special, to air on Thursday, May 7 at 8P/7C.
The live televised event, hosted by Marc Lamont Hill, will feature a candid and comprehensive conversation with denizens of Baltimore about the events that occurred in the city over the past couple weeks, as well as address the challenges our community is facing and looking ahead to what can be done to affect positive change. Confirmed guests include Councilman Brandon Scott, Toya Graham — who became an Internet sensation when a video of her disciplining her son went viral — and activist Tamika D. Mallory.
The digital news special Loud: The Power of Baltimore's Uprising featuring T.I., David Banner, The Wire actress Felicia "Snoop" Pearson and Baltimore pastor Jamal Bryant premieres today just ahead of the network's live telecast. BET Networks has been a leader in coverage of the Baltimore Uprising, with exclusive video content, up-to-the-minute updates on the case and compelling interviews available at BET.com/BaltimoreUprising.
“There is much more work to be done to impact the critical issues that are devastating our communities. At BET Networks, we are committed to super-serving our audience by bringing these conversations and stories to light and by creating platforms to exchange meaningful dialogue that will galvanize change,” says BET Networks Chairman and CEO Debra L. Lee.
