Tiger Woods Says ‘I feel Like I Am Going To Play’ In This Weekend’s 2022 Masters Tournament

If he does tee off on Thursday, it will be his first event in 17 months which preceded his catastrophic car accident in February 2021.

Tiger Woods is no stranger to making miraculous comebacks.

In 2019, he won The Masters tournament after having the fourth-shortest odds to take home the green jacket and having not won a major tournament since 2008.

The 15-time major winner is perhaps now ready to make possibly the most amazing return to championship play in his career. On Tuesday (April 5), during his official press conference at Augusta National – and just two days to go until first round play begins – Woods says he’s planning to participate.

"As of right now, I feel like I am going to play. As of right now. I'm going to play nine more holes [Wednesday]," said Woods, who previously noted it would be a “game time decision” on whether he’d play in The Masters.

During practice rounds earlier this week, CBS Sports reports that Tiger has looked fit and healthy.

Woods hasn’t participated in a PGA Tour event in 17 months and is just 14 months removed from a very serious car accident, which almost took his right leg and had many believing he would never play golf professionally again.

Tiger noted this week in Augusta that walking the course is going to be the toughest part for him, but he says he’s up for the challenge.

"This is not an easy walk to begin with, and given the condition my leg is in, it's even more difficult," he said, according to CBS Sports. "Seventy-two holes is a long road. It's going to be a tough challenge and a challenge I'm up for."
