Watch: An Emotional Tyson Gay Thanks Supporters for Showing Love After Daughter's Tragic Death
Tyson Gay is currently going through hell, but despite experiencing the recent loss of his only daughter, Trinity, he has still taken a moment to show his gratitude for those keeping him, and his family, in their prayers and sending their condolences in the wake of this tragedy.
Last Sunday (October 16) the Olympic runner woke to the horrific news that his 15-year-old daughter was fatally shot while she was hanging out with friends at Lexington's Cook Out restaurant.
This weekend, hundreds gathered to say goodbye to Trinity, with her father addressing her legacy and his newfound mission to help the community, especially its youth, to come together to help prevent future acts of senseless gun violence.
"I just want to thank everybody for all their support and love," a grief-stricken Gay addressed supporters in an Instagram clip. "Lexington, Kentucky, the whole nation and the rest of the world, I received so much support. Trinity received so much support."
He then goes on to promise he's going to work to better the world in his daughter's honor however he possibly can.
"I want to say I love you guys," he continues. "Hopefully we can come together to stop the violence. Trinity would want us to come together and have peace. I'ma do whatever I can to help our youth. Thank you."
