Father of Gunman in PnB Rock Killing Sentenced to 31 Years to Life in Prison

A second person was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The man convicted of orchestrating the fatal robbery of PnB Rock by sending his 17-year-old son into a restaurant to commit the crime was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison by a judge in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday (Sept. 23).

Freddie Trone, 42, had denied everything, and his defense attorney said he was only an accessory after the crimes. But, on Aug. 7, a jury found him guilty of one count of murder, two counts of robbery, and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, according to reports.

During the trial, both sides acknowledged that Trone’s teenage son entered Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles in September 2022, fatally shot the Philadelphia rapper, born Rakim Hasheem Allen, and stole his jewelry while eating with his girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang, whom he shares a two-year-old daughter with. Now 19, he was charged with murder but has not yet been found competent to stand trial. He is scheduled for a status conference on Oct. 2.

A second defendant, Tremont Jones, was convicted on two counts of second-degree robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

“Today, justice has been served with the sentencing of two men for the tragic and senseless murder of Rakim Hasheem Allen, also known to many as the talented rap artist PnB Rock,” LA District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement after the sentencing. “I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Rakim Allen. His life was cut short by an act of violence that no family should have to endure. I also want to commend the tireless efforts of our Community Violence Reduction Division. Their dedication to this case demonstrates the importance of collaboration between law enforcement, prosecutors, and the community in reducing violence and bringing perpetrators to justice.”

A third defendant, Shauntel Trone, entered a no-contest plea to accessory after the fact in July. She is set to be sentenced on Jan. 16, 2025.

PnB Rock rose to fame with the release of his 2016 hit “Selfish.”
