Titans Justin Hunter Arrested in Bar Brawl Assault
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter was arrested and charged with felonious assault, stemming from a bar brawl in his hometown of Virginia Beach, earlier this month.
ESPN is reporting that Hunter turned himself in Monday after a warrant was issued and he remains in a Virginia Beach jail without bond while the case is being investigated. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon in court.
Police tell ESPN that Hunter was involved in a fight with a tourist at the Sandbar Surf Bar in Virginia Beach late on July 3 and that the victim was hospitalized with injuries as a result. Police also told ESPN that the allegations against Hunter, 24, include "malicious intent, stabbing, cutting, wounding."
Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt added: "At some point, you either get it, or you won't be in this league anymore. That's the natural order of the NFL."
A 2013 second-round draft pick, Hunter had 28 receptions for 498 yards and three touchdowns for the Titans last season before missing the final four games with a lacerated spleen.
