Nick Cannon Chronicles Over a Decade Living With Lupus, Advocates Health Awareness
Since 2012, Nick Cannon has been transparent about his battle with lupus in the hopes of helping others who are diagnosed live with the disease. The 43-year-old mogul changed his diet, upped his physical exercise, and consulted doctors to battle lupus.
Recently, Cannon posted a photo on his Instagram Stories of him getting blood work done, calling himself a lupus warrior. “Constant reminder that health is the real wealth!!! #lupuswarrior” the “Masked Singer” host captioned the image.
Cannon has lived with lupus for over a decade. There is no cure for the autoimmune disease that causes the body's immune system to mistake healthy tissues as foreign invaders and attack them instead of bad bacteria and viruses. Lupus causes inflammation affecting the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs.
The father of 12 is invested in living his life despite lupus. Two years ago, Cannon shared a video on “The Nick Cannon Show” about his journey with lupus, and in it, he said, “After a decade of close calls, blood transfusions, chemotherapy and hospitalizations, I continue to push through. Throughout this journey, I had to change everything about the way I live my life, and it wasn't easy."
Nick’s reminder is a reminder to the world: health is wealth.
