Rickey Smiley Defends His Son for Making Terrible Comments About Black Women

He spoke out on social media.

Ricky Smiley is coming to his son Malik's defense after he was dragged to hell on social media for saying he doesn't find Black women attractive on a recent episode of their reality show.

In the most recent episode of Rickey Smiley: For Real, the 15-year-old was seen going on a blind date with a Black girl his cousin set him up with, but things took a turn when he pulled him aside to express that he just wasn't into her.

"Her face," he said. "Black females are not attractive to me. I look at them like my sisters... I went to an all-white school. Sometimes, people have different tastes, and I don't have a taste for her."

Take a look at the clip, below, and see how he and his father responded to the criticism.

  • He also continued his response on his morning show, blaming the producers for having 'an agenda'

"Last week, my son just coincidentally [texted] me and said, 'Dad, I made a mistake.' He said he's getting [blown] up on social media because of his statement about not being attracted to Black women," he said on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show. "Sometimes, people will get into a situation with a certain agenda. If our target audience is Black women, why would we have that air? I was pissed."

  • Malik even called in to explain that his response was completely scripted

"I really did not mean it in that way," he said. "He gives me a script and I say exactly what's off that script. They told me to say that. I did not say that. They must have cut this out — I said that I had bad experiences with a lot of Black females and I just want to try something different... I copied exactly what they told me to say."
